                   F  A  Q

QWho does Feeding Families, Inc. purchase the food from?

A.  We work with numerous wholesale food suppliers in the United States, and in most cases we will purchase the food at below wholesale cost. On occasion the suppliers will donate the food.

Q.  Who does Feeding Families, Inc donate the food to?

A.  FFI donates free of charge, to major Food Banks in America who are also 501(c)(3) tax exempt, non-profit organizations.

The Food Banks are located across America, on the East Coast, West Coast, the Midwest, in the South, Northwest, and in New England.

These Food Banks have been chosen based on their 3 and 4 Star ratings on Guidestar.org,, and ChairtyNavigator.org, who are equipped with the freezer capacity space to store large donations of fresh frozen fruits and vegetables.

Q.  Who do the Food Banks Distribute the food to?

A.  The Food Banks will in turn distribute the fresh frozen donated food to thousands of smaller organizations in their tri-state area, i.e., soup kitchens, churches, schools, infant and pre-natal feeding programs, and other non-profits, free of charge.

Q.   Once the food is donated to the Food Banks, do they report back to Feeding Families, Inc. as to who received the fresh, frozen food donations?

A.   Yes, The Food Banks will report, on a quarterly basis, to FFI. The reports will include the following information. The date the food was delivered, which non-profit it was delivered to, and how much fresh frozen food was distributed.

This secure reporting system was created by one of our Board Members who is also our Compliance Advisor, and audits 990’s, the form all non-profits have to file annually.

Q.   Who pays for the trucking expenses to deliver the food to the food banks?

A.  There are a few scenarios regarding trucking expenses, especially with the high cost of fuel today. In most cases, FFI will incur the      expense (usually 15% of the cost of the food), or the Food Bank may pay the cost and/or they may share in the cost with FFI. On occasion, the trucking companies may donate the cost of shipping expenses.

Additionally, in an attempt to keep fuel costs at a minimum, Feeding Families, Inc. also tries to locate Food Banks who are in close        proximity to the wholesale food distributors.
